i learned about this 17th century engraving depicting Jesus Christ wearing a crown of thorns is called "With a Thread".
The design turns out to be an image created with the help of ONE SINGLE LINE, which twists in a spiral.
All face details and light and shadow transitions are created from thickening this line. The author of the work is the French artist Claude Mellan.
To the artist's contemporaries, his engraving method remained a mystery, and no one was able to repeat it.

don’t get me wrong i have multiple ao3 tabs open right now but also i think fanfiction brain has poisoned so many minds
i enjoy fanfiction, i’ve written fanfiction, i like to read fanfiction as bedtime stories, but i also read real books and watch real movies and real tv shows all the time. i enjoy them as their own works and don’t go looking for fanfiction for everything i watch/read immediately after it ends. and as i’ve gotten older i’ve noticed that when i’m in fandom spaces so many people (mostly very grown adults) don’t have that intentional separation so it’s like they’re approaching real books/movies/shows like they’re fanfiction and not The Story. something to be mindful of.

I genuinely hope American media sucks for a while! I hope the big companies keep trying to churn out shit and that it’s all embarrassing garbage! I want it to be extremely apparent to everyone how important the writers and actors are to create good media and that they deserve to be compensated appropriately!!!
